Meet Sister Edna Maier

Sr. Edna Maier, SNDdeN has found many opportunities to serve God's people by "getting off the bus."

She got off the bus of eight years of teaching high school math to follow the call to teach math at Norfolk State University, a predominately black college, which lasted seven years.

This brought her to a new call: to be part of a parish mission team with Dominican priests. Together they traveled all over the U.S. to give week-long Family Missions.  This lasted 20 years and was a blessing beyond belief.  When this "bus ride" ended, she followed another dream: that of being a leader in several different Southern parishes that had no resident pastor.

These pastoral experiences lasted seven years.  Her latest bus ride focuses on writing a book to share the wonders she has found in experiencing God in daily, ordinary events. Sr. Edna's favorite scripture quote is from Ephesians 3:20: "Glory be to him whose power working in us can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine."
