Holy Angels Elementary School, Yuba City

A page from a book made by a student after the flood.

The Sisters had just opened Holy Angels School at St. Isidore's Parish when the tragic Christmas flood of 1955 covered it to the roof. Dug out and scrubbed down, school reopened on February 2, 1956, and has been going strong (and dry) ever since. Sisters staffed the school till June 1972.

The school is now known as St. Isidore Catholic School.

  1. I attended Holy Angel's School in 1955. We all went to a school in Marysville until our school reopened again after the flood.

  2. It was 60 years ago today (June 2, 1961) that I graduated from Holy Angels Catholic Elementary School. We were also the second class to hold its graduation ceremony in the new St Isidore Catholic Church, which opened in May of 1960.

    1. Thank you for sharing that memory, Patrick! Happy 60th Anniversary!
